2016 Dynasty League Draft

The off-season has been pretty busy (well, at least for one team), and it's about to get even busier!  The NFL draft is next week, meaning the Dynasty League's draft is right around the corner.  Some GMs have grown complacent since championship week, while others have been making moves in preparation of the draft.  In anticipation of many confused questions, this blog will attempt to sum up the off-season moves thus far, as well as explain how the draft will work.

Off-Season Shenanigans

After recovering from the brutal championship game loss, ACL's manager took a long look at the roster, and started putting together a plan of action to not only ensure another finals appearance, but also to provide the team with enough youth to continue making playoff pushes for years to come.

Their strategy in 2015 was to load up on handcuffs, which just so happened to work when the injuries came, but that was a stroke of ill-gotten luck that wasn't likely to repeat.  So first thing to do was to offload those handcuffs to the teams that actually needed them.  West to Julio and Friends only made sense, giving them the entire Atlanta backfield.

The next move was a painful one, sending away the player that inspired the team's name before he had a chance to start a single game for them, but youth was paramount and Jordy is not a young man.  So off he went to Land O' Nutts in exchange for a 1st round pick and his younger teammate, Cobb.

ACL continued collecting 1st round picks, sending Langford to the E-Munnies, as well as Hillman and a 2nd to the BgDkDdy's.  With all of these 1sts, the team then looked to move up in the draft.  They traded two of their 1st round picks along with a 2nd and DeAngelo Williams to the TDs in exchange for the #1 overall.

After that, ACL sent the #2 overall (formerly Nutt's pick) along with David Johnson to the reigning champs in exchange for Allen Robinson.  The next big move was with the tEDDy bEARs, where a deal involving Dez, Rodgers, Kelce, and Brock was haggled out over drinks.

There was also the one deal not involving ACL, in which the Sicarios sold Bennett to the E-Munnies for a 2nd round pick after news of the player joining the Patriots.

Draft Preview

You can keep track of the draft board here, just remember that we only go up to round 6.  Currently, the first round will proceed as follows:

  1. Arrogance Can't Lose (originally Show Me Your TDs)
  2. The Futures (originally Land O' Nutts)
  3. Runner Runner
  4. Arrogance Can't Lose (originally Sicarios)
  5. Sicarios (originally BgDkDdys)
  6. Show Me Your TDs (originally E-Munnies)
  7. tEDDy bEARs
  8. Arrogance Can't Lose (originally Julio and Friends)
  9. Show Me Your TDs (originally Arrogance Can't Lose)
  10. The Futures
This may change (and probably will) up to and during the draft itself, as teams continue to trade.  The draft will begin on Saturday, May 7th, at 6:00am MT.  The draft timer will be 12 hours long (and will stop from midnight to 6:00am MT).  Teams may take up to 12 hours to make their picks, though they may pick in less time if they choose.  During that time, trades can be made involving picks and/or players.  During the draft, trades will process instantly.  If a team goes over the 12 hour time limit during their pick, they will autodraft the highest ranked player on FleaFlicker's ADP.

The players available in the draft will be all signed rookies as well as all FA players. Roster sizes will increase to 38 prior to the draft.  It will be up to each team to make sure they have the right amount of roster space for each of their picks.  Rosters will remain at 38 until the week after the last preseason game, when all teams will have to cut down to the 30 max.
