"The Future is Now!"

"The Future is Now!"

That's the text I got from The Futures' team manager that Sunday afternoon.  I was out to a late lunch so wasn't watching the games, but I remember being in a reasonable position by the half, with the Jags somehow struggling against New Orleans.  The text prompted me to check the scores...what happened?  The Bortles/Robbinson 90-yard TD happened.  The rest was merely window dressing after that crucial play, which paved the way for our inaugural winners, The Futures!

Targeting younger players proved the winning formula, as the team was able to beat out the vets on tEDDy bEARs and Julio and Friends and the backups from the runner-up Arrogance Can't Lose.  Only two veterans played a big role in The Futures' successful season, Foster whose mid-season injury left a seemingly large hole in the roster, and Barnidge who turned out surprisingly clutch in his old age.  Aside from them, the rookies and sophomores led the team to the trophy.  Time will tell if the winning strategy has any effect on future moves in the league and the value of players.

Off Season

Now that we are officially in the fantasy off season, trades have been reopened and free agency has been locked.  Teams are free to trade players and draft picks for the next two years.  Rosters will be expanded prior to the rookie draft, which will occur sometime in May or June (after the NFL draft).

Please keep an eye on the league Facebook for potential rule changes, any of which must be discussed and voted on prior to the draft.
