Week 10

Upsets everywhere!  Every single expert consensus pick lost in week 9.  Sicarios, BgDkDdy, and tEDDy bEARs each pulled off wins over the expected favorites, making it clear that nothing is a sure thing in this game.  With four weeks left in the regular season, nobody has yet been eliminated from playoff contention, meaning every game counts!

Week 9 Review

We have to start by acknowledging Sunday night's exciting finish between ACL and Runner Runner.  ACL started the day by benching their top scoring player, Williams, in favor of Forte replacement Langford, putting the team in a bad spot early while simultaneously earning them this week's Joe Philbin Award.  The saving grace for ACL was Atlanta's unexpected struggle against San Francisco.  Dominant player Freeman was held to only 79 yards and a single TD.  Runner Runner still put up an impressive point total, putting them at third for the week, but the matchup didn't go their way.

Even the potentially career-ending injury to Floyd couldn't stop the Sicarios comeback tour!  Carr again proved the right choice over Peyton, giving the team a solid 20pt lead going into Monday night's game.  Floyd's injury and Rivers' 280 yards looked to be putting The Futures in the lead, until Bennett's TD sealed the Sicarios victory.  The loss puts The Futures in danger of losing their divisional playoff spot, while putting Sicarios in position to make a late-season run.

The E-Munnies took a risk not starting a kicker this week, and while it wouldn't have made a difference, it definitely didn't help things against the tEDDy bEARs.  Rodgers had his best fantasy game yet against Carolina, putting up 40pts, while Crabtree is surpassing Cooper as the receiver to own in Oakland.  Trouble in paradise for the E-Munnies as Lewis goes down with a season-ending injury.  It's not all bad, though, since Gronk stands to see more short yard targets as a result.

And then there was one.  Despite putting up a formidable team total and only starting a single inactive player, Show Me Your TDs will be the final team to get a logo.  Land O' Nutts did everything they could to make it a close game, though, with 6 players scoring 3pts or less.  Luckily Watson returned from injury in a big way to save the team with a 30pt score.

The Julio and Friends vs. BgDkDdy matchup seemed to emulate the Falcons/49ers game this week, the clearly dominant team struggling unexpectedly against an opponent projected to lose by a landslide.  Going into the weekend, it looked like the Friends had it in the bag with Dalton's and Eifert's Thursday performance.  Then Luck and Walker came to play, making it an even match.  MVP for the Ddy's has to be defensive player Hicks, who racked up 16pts with a touchdown before going out with a season-ending injury.

Week 10 Preview

The first of four consensus expert picks this week, this stands to be one of those rare weeks with a full lineup from Show Me Your TDs.  ACL is the clear favorite in this matchup, but losing Ben for at least the week makes it a bit closer than it would have been.  Eli has been a pretty big question mark week to week, and if he puts up a dud (along with OBJ), it could be another consensus fail for the experts.

While certainly happy with a win after their brutal 4-game losing streak, this week doesn't look great for Land O' Nutts.  With an average of 130pts per game, the tEDDy bEARs are clear frontrunners heading into the end of the season.  For Nutts to have a chance, they have to hope that the majority of Rodgers' production is through Cobb.  If they are able to pull off the upset, it would put them in contention for one of the wildcard spots.  If they lose, that may be the season.

The sax logo couldn't be more fitting for the swingiest team in the league.  With a high score of 146 and a low of 78, you really never know what you are going to get out of BgDkDdy.  Fresh off a win against the top ranked team Julio and Friends, they are in position to challenge for one of the wildcard spots if they can shut down the E-Munnies.  The latter team was hurt pretty badly by Lewis' injury, leaving them without a clear starter at RB.  This week they look to be rolling with Starks, who seems to have finally surpassed Lacy as the lead back in Green Bay.  That backfield has been pretty desolate for fantasy owners this season, however winter is coming.

If there was ever a week for Sicarios to take on Runner Runner, Freeman's bye is the one they'd choose.  His absence opens the door for Matthews to prove that last week wasn't a fluke, and that he'll actually be fantasy relevant this season.  The Sicarios are actually projected to beat Runner Runner by a single point, despite the experts going the other way.  A lot of that is probably to do with LaFell, and what will happen with Lewis' targets now that he's out of the game.  If LaFell manages to claim a decent share, he could prove a solid late-season plug in for Sicarios.

Game of the Week: This divisional matchup between the top two teams out of Colorexico is the only game this week the experts are split on.  Most favor The Futures, probably due to Julio and Friends missing their namesake player.  McFadden stands to have another big game against Tampa Bay.  Since taking the lead and having Dez back in the mix, DMC has been a reliable start in the desolate 2015 RB wasteland.  The Friends will need another big game out of Cincinnati to keep up.  If they do pull off the win, they will maintain their position as #1 overall, and also put the Futures in danger of losing their divisional playoff spot, forcing them to fight the field for one of the two wildcards.  With so much on the line, this is definitely the game to watch!
