Week 11

Forget all your single-division leagues with obvious playoff pictures and clear roads to victory!  We're here to emulate the NFL, and that comes complete with confusing rankings and mental gymnastics to determine your path to the playoffs.  While four teams appear locked in for playoff spots, the remaining six all remain in contention for those coveted wild card spots.  Let the race begin!

Week 10 Review

Where oh where do we start?  We should probably hand it to Land O' Nutts for putting up an impressive 122pts, the third most in the league!  But the match went the way of their season of bad luck, since their opponent put up the second most points.  The loss puts them out of contention for their division's bye, but they can still win out to secure that wild card.

This was a down week for the swingy BgDkDdy, which was good for the usually dominant E-Munnies as they put up a low (for them) 109pts.  Enough for the win which put them in the #1 spot overall, but at what a cost.  Fresh from losing their feature back, Lewis, the team lost another New Englander to injury.  While Edelman should be back in time for New England's inevitable championship push, it will be too late for fantasy purposes.  Goodnight, sweet prince!

This week's Joe Philbin Award should probably be split between both competitors in the next match, as each made their share of horrible decisions.  ACL benched a total of FIVE players who scored 25 or more pts, while starting three who scored 11 or less.  Show Me Your TDs forgot to swap out their BYE week kicker in time, so made the perplexing decision to drop Johnson to make room for Nugent.  In all of this mess, Eli and Odell were able to connect enough to give ACL the victory, though it wasn't a pretty one.

How the mighty have fallen.  Julio and Friends made another franchise record, but not one they'll want to brag about.  Cincinnati's crumbling offense led the team put up the lowest score in their history.  Not a single player scored more than 12pts, with six scoring 6pts or less.  The Futures took advantage of the must-win situation, putting themselves in good position to make claim for the bye.

Which brings us to the biggest upset of the week!  And I'm not just talking about the underdog winning.  The result of the match between Runner Runner and Sicarios upset the wildcard rankings for the entire league!  Sicarios have been on an amazing run the second half of the season, losing only once since their 5-week losing streak.  By winning the week, they've entered a 3-way tie with Runner Runner and BgDkDdy, all currently vying for the last wildcard spot in the playoffs.  Runner Runner currently comes out ahead with their average point total, but that's a tenuous grip at best on such a crucial position.

Week 11 Preview

While Show Me Your TDs was moving in the right direction as far as points go, this will be an incredibly rough week for them with Brown on BYE.  The tEDDy bEARs have a fun decision every week, deciding between Rodgers and Brees, who have both been putting up ridiculous points despite their real NFL teams struggling to compete.  That decision is made for them this week with the Saints BYE, and with both Blount and Amendola getting increased workloads in NE, the bEARs remain dominant favorites.

Both of these teams are in must-win situations, which should make for an exciting match!  Land O'Nutts need to win to make any kind of push for the playoffs, while BgDkDdy needs to break their tie with Sicarios and Runner Runner.  The latter's QB problems keep coming.  While Luck has been recovering they've been relying on Fitzpatrick, who has been dealing with his own thumb injury and remains questionable to play.  That combined with Hill's baffling fall from grace make this a rough week for the Ddys, and opens the door for the Nutts to finally break their unlucky streak.

ACL finds themselves in an interesting situation.  If they can somehow tie with the top two teams in their division, they would take the top spot along with the coveted BYE.  They would need both The Futures and Julio and Friends to lose to pull it off, but stranger things have happened!  Sicarios need a win to break out of their own 3-way tie and secure the wild card spot.  Sicarios have the advantage as none of their key players are on bye, and they even get Romo back!  ACL, on the other hand, will be heavily relying on their depth as they will be without Big Ben, OBJ, Ingram, Martavis, AND Williams.  It's fitting that they look to be plugging in Brock this week, since Sicarios finally sent Peyton to that big bench in the sky.

Runner Runner's last two losses have put them in a bad spot where they need to win, and they need to do it against one of the toughest teams in the league.  After Cincinnati's recent struggles, the experts are sleeping on Julio and Friends, but Julio is back this week, and he's not a player you should underestimate.  Runner Runner, of course, has Freeman back this week as well, to complete their one-two punch with Gurley, meaning this should be the highest scoring match of the week.

Game of the Week: This week pits two battered and worn season-long favorites against one another, with both divisional byes at stake!  If E-Munnies win, they will maintain their hold on the Newizona Division, but if they lose they will concede the spot to tEDDy bEARs.  If The Futures win, they will either tie or overtake Julio and Friends in Colorexico Division.  With so much at stake, both teams will need all players performing to secure the lead.  For E-Munnies, that means the surprisingly reliable Gore needs to stay that way, and Moncrief needs to somehow make due with a backup throwing to him.  The Futures weak link will be their tight end.  With Barnidge on BYE, they are left relying on Gresham, who has only posted 158 yards total this season (though he did pull in a TD against Seattle last week, so that counts for something).  While the experts favor the E-Munnies, this match may very well be a preview for the championships; either team could easily come out ahead.
