Week 9

And we thought the first half of the season was brutal for injuries!  Bloody Sunday wreaked havoc across the league, leaving very few safe.  Bell, Allen, and Smith all out with season ending injuries, and Forte's diagnosis is still in the air.  Following the recent losses of Charles and Foster, not many of those early rounders are left standing.  While injuries are tragic, we must move on and work with the fallout.  With so many stars out all at once, many previously unrostered players will have sudden relevance just in time for the playoff push.

Week 8 Bloody Sunday Review

With how much went wrong this week, everything seemed to go right for Arrogance Can't Lose.  Miller's disappointing outing saved by a lone TD, and Big Ben's subpar return game was made up for by OBJ's 37pt game.  Unfortunately for BgDkDdy, even Luck's 4th quarter plays weren't enough to overcome Sanders' and Hill's paltry 10pts combined.  Worse yet, their star receiver, Allen, is out for the season from a kidney injury.  They might be forced to dig deep in their TE bank going forward.

Not much needs to be said about our now 3-time winner of the Joe Philbin Award. Show Me Your TD's started another 3 BYE players against The Futures, and on top of that lost their one ray of shining hope, Bell, to an MCL injury.  The Futures didn't get out of their Mikkle-BYE unscathed, though, as they lost Steve "might still play even with a torn Achilles because he's insane" Smith.  This coming not too long after losing Foster has put pressure on the former favorites.

Even though the Sicarios finally put up a logo-winning score, it wasn't much of a contest against the E-Munnies, who have so far been able to dodge the 2015 plague of injuries.  Every single one of their 4 NE players scored at least 1 touchdown in the massacre of Miami, leading to a franchise record of 172pts.  Sicarios have held fast to Manning at the helm, but even leading Denver in a crushing defeat of Green Bay he only put up 16pts himself.

Despite a manager who didn't believe in them, Runner Runner were able to overcome the tEDDy bEARs.  Denver holding Rodgers to a season low 6pts along with Ivory having a similarly bad showing had a lot to do with the loss.  On the other side, Gurley is looking like the best pickup of the season, as nothing seems to be able to stop the rookie.

Which brings us to Julio and Friends' defeat of Land O' Nutts.  Nutts has had a real tough go of it this season.  Their roster looks solid on paper, and most would probably have been happy with their draft, but every week they just don't hold up to expectation.  Even Lacy's TD looked like a fluke, which is a sentence that I never thought I'd write.  Meanwhile, the Friends' receiving corps looks unstoppable.  Julio, Green, and Diggs?  Brutal.

Week 9 Preview

It looks like Carr might finally have won the starting job for Sicarios over the fallen-from-grace Manning.  While the lineup is starting to look respectable with Stewart, Hilton, and Cooks all getting plenty of targets/touches on their respective teams, this week will still be an uphill battle against The Futures.  With the Randle-saga finally over, DMC has secured the job behind the Dallas O-line, and he has yet to disappoint.  It happened none-too-soon for the team that lost Smith so quickly after losing Foster.  The two big question marks for this team this week are ARob and Gio, the former who will be on Revis island and the latter who saw only a single attempt in last week's game.

The tEDDy bEARs made it the whole season without a major injury, but it looks like that run has come to an end with Forte's mysterious ailment.  This has the team considering the two TE approach perfected by Julio and Friends earlier in the season.  The E-Munnies, on the other hand, just keep on trucking.  This week New England plays Washington, which should mean another day of a million TD passes.  Even Amendola may get in on the action, but most likely the dreaded duo of Gronk and Edelman will get the majority of Brady's graces.

I'm not sure what else there really is to say about Julio and Friends this week.  The team looks solid, and it's like losing Charles made no difference at all.  That's not to say BgDkDdy couldn't pull an upset, but that's definitely what it would be if they got the win.  A battered and struggling Luck plays a Denver defense which was just able to keep Rodgers from throwing a single touchdown (and to only 6pts total), so don't expect much production there.  Most of this team's fate lies on Hill this week, and whether this will be his week or if things shift back Gio's way.

The last time these two teams faced off back in week 5 ACL pulled off an 8pt upset of Runner Runner.  A lot has changed in that time and the experts are again split on the decision.  After quite the wacky year, Randle has been released by Dallas, forcing Runner to plug in Hurns against the Jets.  With Revis covering ARob, this might actually be a blessing in disguise for the team.  ACL's early strategy of stashing handcuffs has resulted in a surplus of backup RBs with the job this week.  Williams should resume the work he started the first two weeks of the season in Bell's absence, and if Forte is out for any length of time Langford should take his role in Chicago.  All these backups facing the two-headed monster that is Gurley and Freeman, this is anyone's game.

Game of the Week: These two teams must be incredibly psyched about this week's matchup!  Both at the bottom of their division with a 2-6 record.  Both on losing streaks (3 and 4 games, respectively).  Both the last teams without logos.  And both still have a chance at making playoffs if they can turn their seasons around, starting with this game.  Show Me Your TDs just lost Bell for the season, and currently have a roster of 10 BYE week players.  Management has struggled making good start decisions this season, but it's crunch time and they'll need to rise to the occasion.  On the other side of the field they face the good-on-paper but bad-in-practice Land O' Nutts.  Lacy and Cobb face a stout Carolina defense, while Peterson has his own troubling matchup against the Rams.  The Battle of the Bads, who will come out ahead with a 3-6 record on the road to redemption?
