Week 8 Preview

Three different matchups came down to close Monday night battles, which made for exciting viewing as Arizona took down Baltimore.  We've now officially passed the halfway point in the regular season, with only six more weeks left until playoffs.  Right now the three frontrunners are pulling pretty far ahead of the rest of the pack, leaving the rest of us to battle over the remaining three spots.  It's still anyone's game, as nobody has worse than a 2-5 record.

Week 7 Review

Ambulance chasers may enjoy taking a look at Land O' Nutts' bench, but those with weak stomachs are best to avoid it.  A whopping 12 players failed to put up any points (whether due to injuries, BYEs, or straight goose eggs), meaning the Nutts didn't have much choice in who to start.  It made little difference as ACL put up a franchise record score of 147pts, in no small part to Miller's 44pt contribution.

One of the most exciting matchups (and one that had the experts split) was between E-Munnies and Runner Runner.  Only 10pts separated these two teams going into Monday night's game, and each had a player still to go.  Unfortunately for Runner Runner, Gilmore wasn't able to outscore Tucker by enough points to pull off the win.  Despite that, after last week's loss and this week's narrow win, the E-Munnies finally look beatable.

The next match had the experts split but wasn't even close.  After the Sunday morning games Julio and Friends had put up a formidable 127pts to the bEARs' 72.  Diggs is starting to look like this year's OBJ, and he came around right when the Friends needed him most to fill the gaping Charles-sized hole in their lineup.  This week was a difficult one to assign the Joe Philbin Award, but ultimately it has to go to the tEDDy bEARs.  They would have been much better off fielding the entire Philly backfield over Blount's abysmal performance, and even after 50 concussions Reed doesn't seem to understand the concept of mortality.

The match between BgDkDdy and The Futures was tough to read as the latter team had 6 players playing in the Monday night game.  The Ddy's were wary with only a 54pt lead, which was close enough for even the moderate performance out of Palmer to pull off the win.  In bigger news, the injury bug struck again this week by taking out Foster with an ACL tear.  The running back had only just started getting into the groove again this year when he fell after putting up 2 touchdowns.

Let's hear it for Sicarios for breaking their 5-week losing streak!  They were finally able to secure a performing quarterback with Carr, combined with Hilton's season-high score of 36pts.  Even though Show Me Your TDs was able to put together a solid lineup and even got a long-forgotten decent score out of Brown, it wasn't enough.  Both teams leave the match at 2-5, with a long road to the playoffs ahead of them.

Week 8 Preview

Big Ben is back and Luck is back to his old self, making this an exciting matchup as far as QBs go.  Riding off of Miller's recent successes, ACL is hoping Miami doesn't fall too far behind New England, forcing them to air it out in the second half.  BgDkDdy has to make the tough call in starting Hill despite his rollercoaster scoreboard this year.  Both teams go into the matchup at 3-4, so the results should go a long way to establishing a playoff push for one of them!

Show Me Your TDs is in desperate need of a win, but it will be a hard time coming against The Futures.  Even after losing Foster, The Futures look solid plugging in Gio, who has been reliably putting up mid-range scores every week this season.  The TDs are suffering from a pretty brutal BYE week, losing Yeldon, Garcon, and Ertz.  With Big Ben back in the mix, Bell looks to improve as defenses will have to respect the air game once again.  The big question is whether it will be Blue who takes charge in Houston, or if he defers to the plague of RBBCs that have sprung up around all these injuries.

Riding high after finally breaking their losing streak, the Sicarios will most likely be brought back down to Earth this week against the E-Munnies.  Even though they have been on a relatively downward trend the past couple weeks, the E-Munnies are still clearly one of the top teams this season, especially with Brady and Co. continuing their revenge tour against the NFL.  Manning is back at the helm for Sicarios, which should make for an exciting Sunday night game against Green Bay.

Match of the Week: The only match that has the experts split down the middle, this should prove an exciting contest.  Interestingly enough, Runner Runner's team manager himself does not believe his guys have what it takes to beat the tEDDy bEARs.  Gurley ought to keep putting up huge numbers against the soft San Francisco secondary, and with Miami most likely falling behind early, Landry should see plenty of targets.  The bEARs remain one of the last two teams to avoid any major injuries, and it shows as they continue to project highly every week.  Last week's loss was seemingly an anomaly (probably due to Rodgers' BYE), but Runner Runner will be hoping it was the start of a trend.

Land O' Nutts get Lacy and Cobb back this week, but they will still struggle against a Denver defense that has seemed impenetrable.  Julio and Friends looks pretty good with Green and Jones both facing pretty soft defenses to the pass, and newcomer Diggs gets a juicy chance at Chicago.  Unfortunately for the Nutts, a lot will have to go against expectation for them to pull off the win this week.
