Week 3

I was really looking forward to using the Fitzpatrick interview for this week's blog photo, but then ARob had to go and steal the spotlight from the Zombies.  Still though, two teams putting up over 150pts means it was a pretty crazy week, which has left us with only two remaining undefeated teams going into week 3.

Week 2 Review

The ACL/Futures matchup was a nailbiter going down to the last quarter of the SNF game.  Luckily The Giants decided to rename their franchise the NYBarkleys.  Of course that dud out of DJ didn't do the Futures any favors, either.  The 2017 championship rematch was another close one, this time going to the bEARs in spite of their starting an injured kicker.  That probably added to the sting a bit for the Munnies.

The TDs finally subbed out Bell (at the last second Sunday morning), though it didn't much matter as they faced the woefully unlucky Nutts.  Seriously...now McCoy is hurt, too?  Almost seems like a curse at this point.  Runner Runner did their damnedest trying to double the score of their opponent, with 30 out of Gurley and a ridiculous 42 out of Mahomes.  Seeing Cam with 35 on the bench has to make the Runner's coach feel pretty confident at the QB slot going forward.

Finally we had the newby match, with an impressive 124 points from Doctor B, which would've beat all but three other teams this week.  Unfortunately the Zombies were one of those three, riding that Fitzmagic fuck-it wave.  What a ride that's been so far!

I did it anyway, because I had to!

Week 3 Preview

Can Fitz keep the magic going another week, or is it time for the Buccs to remember they are playing with a backup?  The Zombies will need him to keep it going as they are projected 20pt underdogs going up against Rodgers and the newest stud Pats receiver, Josh Gordon!  That being said, if Eli continues to be terrible and the Giants don't change anything up, ACL's overinvestment on that offense may be their undoing.

Another game and another matchup between former champions for the bEARs.  The Futures young team has been taking a while to work back up to that magical first season, and they aren't off to a great start this year.  A win would end their losing streak while putting a stop to the bEARs undefeated season, and as 7pt underdogs it's not outside the realm of possibility!  AZ just needs to remember they have a top-tier running back who is really good at catching the ball.

This one...I dunno.  This is a bad spot.  I wonder what Vegas would set the line at?  The Munnies are projected 40pt favorites...and that doesn't even seem an overshot.  The Nutts need a miracle or they may be looking at a season destined for next year's 1.01.  Might be time to start researching those college players!

I feel like I should take this time to remind the TDs that we have 2 IR spots.  While their starters are decent, that bench looks like a hospital.  So many red and yellow letters.  Still though they are projected favorites against the Ddys.  The most interesting thing about this matchup for me is the Denver run game.  The TDs are starting the preseason projected lead back in 3rd-rounder Royce, while the Ddys are starting the out-of-nowhere UDFA in Lindsay.  Love a good backfield rivalry taking place in real time!

Finally we have Runner Runner vs. Doctor B.  Despite still using their former franchise logo on FleaFlicker, the Doctors have been making quite a name for themselves always in the top scoring teams, but have missed out on a perfect record due to their brutal schedule.  This week is no different, as they face one of those undefeated teams.  Luckily, this time they are going in as 30pt favorites, so Runner Runner will need another crazy performance out of Mahomes to close the gap.

Both divisions' standings mirror each other, with 1 undefeated team, 1 winless, and 3 tied in the middle fighting for their spot.  We should get a better idea of what teams are playoff bound and what teams are longshots after it's all said and done Monday night.  Good luck, fellas!
