Week 7

The top two teams in each division continue to separate themselves from the rest of the pack, but their positions are far from locked and the wildcard spots are still wide open.  Probably the most surprising turn of events after last week are the 4th place teams in each division.  Preseason favorites, Julio and Friends and the tEDDy bEARs have fallen far from their former glory.  At 2-4 and 3-3, respectively, they are not out of it yet, but have a bit of a road ahead of them if they want to challenge for the wildcard spots.

Week 6 Review

Odell is back!  After struggling with his new role sharing targets with rookie Sheppard and the return of Cruz, not to mention Eli's scared play of late, OBJ finally put up a huge game.  41pts was plenty for an ACL team struggling under Rodger's leadership, and was too much for BgDkDdy to overcome.  The Ddys now find themselves looking at next year, though their 0-6 start sets them up for a nice pick in the 2017 draft.

Predictably the E-Munnies laid waste to Sicarios, nearly doubling their score.  Sicarios owner made some VERY interesting choices with their starting roster last week, starting Zeke's backup in Dallas over the newly acquired Christine Michael as well as benching Drew Brees' favorite target.  I don't really know what to make of those calls.  Might have to bring back the Joe Philbin Award for this one.

Brees' return is definitely something the bEARs needed, and he put up 46pts to remind them of that.  Unfortunately it wasn't enough to defeat the mid-season run being made by Runner Runner.  The win keeps them in a neck and neck race with ACL for the divisional bye.

It's hard to keep talking about Julio and Friends losing, since it's such a stark contrast from last year's performance.  But lose is what they continue to do.  It looked like the Nutts' winning streak might've come to an end with Theo's injury, yet of all the weeks to be forced to start Kenny Britt, this was the one.  29pts out of an LA receiver, crazy.

Finally, last year's champ versus last year's chump, and it turned out about as you'd expect with this weird season.  In the end only 7pts separated the two teams, which has to cause some grief for the Futures' owner as any number of substitutions over John Brown and DeVante Parker would have secured the victory.  Now 2-4, lineup choices for the defending champions will be crucial.

Week 7 Preview

Battle of the ovals.  Both 4-2, and both need a win.  ACL needs a victory to maintain their hold of Colorexico with Runner Runner so close, and Land O'Nutts need it to challenge the two 5-1 teams above them in Newizona for a divisional spot in the playoffs.  ACL will be without two of their studs, star rookie Zeke Elliott as well as trusty vet Greg Olsen.  The Nutts just lost Lacy to IR, though they did pick up Knile Davis as a possible future replacement.  This match will kick off tonight with the Packers game.  ACL needs Rodgers TDs, but they need to all go to Cobb over Nelson.

Both of these teams have seen better days.  The Futures desperately need a win if they hope to make a return to the playoffs, while the BgDkDdys would like to just add something to the W column.  On paper, this looks like an easy win for The Futures, but this season has taught us to ignore projections.  If Denver has a huge game this could easily go the other way, but it can't feel good relying on a great performance out of Siemian.

Sicarios are definitely going to have to make better lineup choices this week if they hope to put an end to the TDs winning streak, especially as their opponent seems to be making all the right start/sit choices week after week.  With quite a few starting RBs on the roster, they aren't out of this match yet.

Both of these teams are second in their divisions and are vying to overtake the #1 spot.  Runner Runner are without Cam this week, and instead will be relying on Hoyer against GB tonight.  The Munnies are all in on New England, starting both TEs, Edelman, as well as Brady.  Despite the Munnies' dominant starting lineup, scrolling down a bit on their roster shows a pretty shallow story.  A whopping 10 players are out, injured, on bye, or doubtful to play this week.  A tenuous position.

Probably the closest matchup this week takes place between the two 4th place teams.  One week after dropping Aguayo, the Friends find themselves in need of a bye-week filler at kicker.  The tEDDy bEARs picked up Montgomery off waivers this week, which could turn out to be a season-changing move as the receiver looks to take over the GB backfield in Lacy and Stark's absence.  Both teams need a win this week to turn their slow-start seasons around.

Week 7 kicks off tonight with the Packers mess of a backfield and struggling Rodgers facing against divisional rivals, the Bears, who lack Royal, White, and Cutler.  All this on a short week?  Should be a mess of an NFL game, great for fantasy!
