Week 16

A Visit to the Finals

'Twas the night before the finals, when all through the league
Not an owner was stirring, probably due to fatigue;
The lineups were set by the finalists with care,
In hopes that the trophy soon would be theirs;
The players were ready, the matchups were set,
Ready to fulfill this season-long bet

And Cam with his dab, and Reed with his fist,
Misuse of their hands, but for a slap on the wrist;
But that's all behind them, this week is what matters,
All the other teams' hopes lie behind them in tatters;
The research, the trades, the waivers and draft picks,
Not to mention a year of distracting politics,
But it all comes down to these final two teams (for all that one cares),
It's between Runner Runner and the tEDDy bEARs.
They did their work all season long,
As the top two teams, they've earned this last song;
Drew Brees will take the probowl snub in stride,
As he faces down Cam Newton's smuglike pride;
More brutal than '16, the injuries came,
Off to IR, questionable, it's all just the same;
Out Gordon, out Benny, out Smallwood and Tannehill,
Out Marshall, out Julius, out Forte and Mathews;
But these teams weathered on, through the snow and the cold,
And set the best lineups, at least that's what I'm told;
Gurley against 9ers with a new head coach?
Even Fisher couldn't fault that surefire approach;
Blount vs. the Jets, that could be called bold,
Almost as much as hoping for the Hopkins of old;
Forte's injury has run the t-bEARs lineup afoul,
Though for the Runners they're just happy with Powell;
In turn the bEARs have Murray in Jacksonville,
Which must feel great for fans swallowing that pill;

All of that said, I wish both teams well,
It's been a hell of a season, too short to say farewell;
And for everyone else, the wait is not long,
Before trading reopens, and my offers come along!

I wish you and your families well; hope your hearths are alight;
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good Sunday night (football)!
