Week 13

The time has come.  Three teams have now been eliminated from contention for the 2017 season, Land O'Nutts, Radioactive Zombies, and Julio and Friends.  This is extra tragic for the Friends, since they put up the 2nd highest score last week off the back of a monster Julio game.  Unfortunately it wasn't enough, and wins by other teams have put them out of the running.  We go into week 13 with 5 teams locked in (including the TDs securing the Newizona bye), and 2 teams fighting over the last wildcard spot.

Week 12 Review

The Zombies run came to an end at the hands of ACL.  Despite missing the playoffs, the team is in a great position to come back next year with another early draft pick, and a ton of young talent.  The win gave ACL control of Colorexico over Runner Runner, who lost to the Friends despite putting up the 4th best score.  Isn't fantasy fun?

The E-Munnies barely pulled off a 2pt victory over The Futures, who really needed the win to take their 2017 fate into their own hands.  The loss means they will need to win their next match AND for the Ddys to lose.  Not a fun spot.

Speaking of the Ddys, they had their own narrow victory last week, beating the Nutts and eliminating them from contention by only 4pts.  So many close games!

While the bEARs still hold the 1st wildcard regardless, it's still a bad sign to go into playoffs on a losing streak.

Week 13 Preview

The Futures 2-game losing streak comes up against ACL's 2-game winning streak.  A win for either team has important playoff considerations.  If Rivers can lead the former team to victory it puts them in the running to take that last wildcard spot, otherwise the team will be eliminated from playoffs for the second year in a row since winning the inaugural season.  If Big Ben can pull off an away win, ACL will maintain control of the Colorexico bye.

This game is largely inconsequential, despite how close it should turn out.  Regardless of the results, the TDs will keep the bye and the Munnies will take the second Newizona playoff spot (since even if they tied with the bEARs, the tiebreaker would slip down to PF, in which they have a comfortable 100pt lead).  So sit back and enjoy a playoff preview, folks!

Another largely inconsequential game, as neither team even gets the opportunity to play spoiler to contender teams.  Might be a good time to pull a Giants and see what you have before going into the offseason and planning for the draft!

A 1pt spread separates these two, though only one team has something to fight for.  The bEARs will take the 5th seed no matter what (well, unless they somehow outscore the Munnies by 100 points this week).  It's a good thing for them as they've pretty much exhausted the depth on their bench at this point.  The Ddys, however, still need a win to guarantee their hold of the 6th seed over the Futures.

While the Nutts are out of the running they can still play spoiler against Runner Runner this week.  Runner needs a win if they hope to retake the Colorexico bye, while a loss will lock them in as the #2 team in the division.  This writer is hoping for a Goff career game.

The trade deadline is this week, so if anyone is wanting to deal do it now!  Trading will reopen after the championship game.  That said, good luck everyone as we wrap up the regular season!
